The America Reads and Counts Program is a national initiative that challenges all Americans to play a role in helping children improve their reading and math skills. Duke students who wish to tutor are placed in one of eight Duke-Durham Neighborhood Partnership schools, where they tutor children in grades K-8 in reading and mathematics. Tutoring positions are open to volunteers as well as students eligible for federal work-study who are seeking paid employment.
